Tibetan Lamasery in Beijing


The Tibetan culture has deep roots. Even in Beijing, China's northerly capital, there are monasteries.
This one is the Yonghagong Tibetan Buddhist Lama Temple, the largest lamasery (their translation of monastery for lamas) in Beijing; it shows Chinese architecture of Qing dynasty (1694) built as a residense, then turned into a monastery in 1744




The red lights show where the monks sit to read their scriptures.
